When I learned that Info Wars had released a video game, I decided that I had to get in on the action of Alex Jones NWO Wars. The game was released at $17.76, and it’s a side-scrolling game that draws inspiration from Contra and Mega Man.
From a gameplay perspective, this one leaves much to be desired for a game in the $20 price range. With only five levels, it can be completed within an hour. The slightly slow character movement and the inability to shoot diagonally can make the game feel awkward, especially when dealing with a multitude of on-screen enemies. I believe the game would benefit from an additional power-up weapon. Instead of just a flamethrower and a machine gun, there should be a rocket launcher, flamethrower, and machine gun.
As an experience, it’s hilariously fun, and playing through it feels like a satirical journey with Alex Jones. The game incorporates memes and tropes typical of Alex Jones, and the enemies and allies complement his character perfectly. The levels are enjoyable and designed around real places and events but highly fictionalized to add a humorous and satirical touch, in my opinion.
If you’re seeking an engaging gameplay loop, you might find better options among various Steam games at a similar price point. However, if you appreciate classic side-scrollers and have a fondness or even just a liking for Alex Jones’ persona, then this game is a significant win and well worth the $17.76 to fend off 1984.
