Exercising with your body weight is great in my opinion and that's what calisthenics is. I do pull-ups and push-ups consistently at the gym and I like those exercises. Moving your body is always going to be free from a financial point of view so calisthenics is great for beginners getting into fitness as well as overloading muscles by stretching them out instead of overloading them with weight.
