I've abandoned eating deep fried foods in my unending quest to be healthy. Vegetable oils dominate the restaurant industry and they dominate the deep fryers in restaurants and the factories that produce the microwave meals that litter grocery stores. If I do eat deep fried food it's most likely going to be homemade so I can use tallow or lard or from a place that I know uses those oils to fry. What about you? Introducing the Daily Poll and its Archive
For over a year, I've been posting the Daily Poll on what is now the Rippaverse Member’s Forum. To make them more accessible, I'm now archiving them on my Substack. These daily polls are often brief, with occasional longer ones, offering a snapshot of my stream of consciousness.
Favorite oil for deep frying with a hot fryer, is canola oil. If you try to use olive oil the food comes out with a different consistency and some times, believe it or not, it catches fire. Plus, canola oil or vegetable oil is much cheaper to cook with when it comes to deep frying. Sometimes, if you dine out, there will be specials cooked in olive oil or butter, not deep fried, of course. Oh, I wish I had my menus!
All restaurants use canola oil or vegetable oil. Some restaurants recycle their oil. Yes, there are companies that come and clean out the deep fryers take the oil clean it and , supply you with someone else’s fresh oil, eewww yuck. But it’s true. In the biz, anyway you can save money, to turn over a big profit is recyclable goods. Sounds bad, but not really. Last nights roast turns into a nice lunch sandwich…deep fried food always get thrown away. Or it should! Hope that helps! My area of expertise! 😊❤️😊❤️🤣🥲
